I'm requesting a mandatory reconsideration, I'm just wondering when choosing the descriptor I believe I meet, will the assessor discount me meeting any because I've chosen a high scoring descriptor or will they choose a lower scoring one if they believe I meet one.

Hi Chloe

You can tell them what you think you should score, but at the end of the day, they will award whatever score they think is appropriate, regardless. They will make their decision based on 'evidence', not your view. That means your current score could stay the same, could be improved, or worst case scenario could be worse (though that rarely happens). What I'm trying to say is that they are not affected by how you score yourself.

I was receiving standard rate for both standard living and mobility, They stopped both after my review even though I have new and worsening conditions. Saying I can prepare an cook a meal unaided, when I use a crutch and stool for sciatica, venous insufficiency, edema and slipped disc. States I said I can stand and mobilise for 20 minutes, I did not, I said I could not sit or stand for 20 minutes. Used the same for mobility. I'm housebound due to severe anxiety and agoraphobia, and aware they can only judge mobility outside of the home. I also know you can't satisfy planning and following a journey option d and f for anxiety or agoraphobia, only cognitive reasons. leaving option e or b. And option e only considered for severe agoraphobia or cognitive impairment. So wondering if I should say option e or b based on likely outcome. I have mental health referrals an lots of gp evidence of being housebound.

Hi Chloe

I think I would add a paragraph at the end of your evidence that you believe the assessor has confused you with someone else, due to the number of 'errors' in what the assessor thinks you said.

I would argue for 1e - but as I said before, it doesn't really matter. You give your opinion - they will give theirs. In my view, there's no point in asking for what you think they will give you. You need to argue for the one you believe you fit the criteria. If they disagree, they disagree. And they could disagree if you put 1b.

Hi chloe,
Say it how it is. It might just persuade DWP, but it may not. However if you don't say it DWP won't know!
