Does this paragraph for Activity 1 - preparing food and cooking for my PIP review go into enough detail or should I go into more depth?

I need help from another person every time I prepare or cook food. My muscular dystrophy is a progressive condition and causes weakness and fatigue in all of the muscles needed to carry out this activity.

It affects my ability to position myself, reach, grip, open packaging, peel, chop, handle utensils, turn taps or controls, put food onto a plate or bowl, and use a microwave or hob safely. My arm movement is restricted by muscle weakness and I cannot raise my arms properly, lift items safely, or hold them up in the air for long enough to complete the task. Both of my hands are weak, but my right hand is worse, and as I am right-handed this has a greater effect on my ability to do these tasks. I have difficulty gripping and controlling items safely, including packaging, utensils, bowls and plates.

I also get muscle fatigue very quickly, and when my muscles become fatigued they become much more painful. I cannot use a microwave safely or reliably because I do not have enough strength in my fingers to press the control buttons or pull the door open, and I cannot lift a bowl or plate into or out of the microwave safely.

I also cannot use a hob safely or reliably because I do not have the strength or control needed to manage pans and hot food, and I cannot raise or steady my arms enough to lift food out of a pan and serve it onto a plate safely. Because of this I cannot complete this activity safely, to an acceptable standard, as often as needed, or within a reasonable time, and there is a risk of dropping items, spilling food, or injuring myself.

I am just asking if this level of detail is enough?

Thanks

Hi xxdebraxx

I think your description is very good. I should think that your muscular dystrophy will have caused some accidents in the past and I would give examples just to enforce the point.
Do you have any relatives, friends or neighbours who could write a short note to confirm your above description? Also anything in writing from a physiotherapist, nurse or support worker would be useful.
