Zero points! was created by Jakes79
I got zero points despite having long term mental health problems and currently seeing the NHS Complex Emotional Needs service. Is it worth appealing or would it be a waste of time? I did the reconsideration but got the same result. I didn't include a statement from my partner in the initial application or the reconsideration but sent in a lot of medical records.

Hi Jakes79
Here is the BenefitsandWork guide to PIP Appeals.
Challenge To A Personal
Independence Payment (PIP)
Decision
A Guide To Mandatory
Reconsiderations and Appeals

It would be a good idea to get some personal assistance from a local Welfare Rights organization such as Citizens Advice or Community Money Advice.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks David
when the DWP phoned me about the mandatory reconsideration they told me to ignore that it says on the letter that you have to appeal to the tribunal within 1 month. They told me that I had a Year to apply to the tribunal. They told me over the phone that the letters says its a month but you can ignore that its definitley 12 months. But now I cant see anywhere online where it says you have 12 months. I assume its 12 months from the date of the initial PIP application which is 30 June 2025. Can you advise me on this please.

Hi Jakes79
As you can see from the official Appeal form SSCS1 your appeal application is classed as late if it is submitted over a month from the date of the Mandatory Reconsideration decision.

thanks, but why would the DWP person tell me over the phone that I didnt need to rush and get the ppel started within a month but that I had 12 months? it feels like they deliberately did this to make it more difficlut for me.
