advise please on help available was created by bonniedog
hi long story short
ive recently been reunited with my birth mother after 68 years
and in turn have inherited a entire family
sadly one of which is in a bad way hes a alcoholic or has been has been and may still be a drug user
18 months ago he suffered a stroke and has a blood clot on his brain that im told impairs his ability to communicate and retain information
he also has trouble walking and lives on the 6th floor of a block of flats
his only carer is our mother who is 89 and suffered a nasty fall on Tuesday which has brought this all to light
which is not a ideal situation by any metric
that his only care giver is a frail 89 year old woman
ive brought up this subject with the family and they are on board with the idea of me exploring
if a care package could be put in place for him
he receives universal credit and pip and possibly housing benefit
so wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction with regards to what help maybe available in a care capacity and who to approach
thanks in advance
