Housing benefit and supported accomodation

At the same time as completing the enforced migration from legacy benefits to UC, my daughter's property was changing landlords and going back to supported accomodation. UC assured me that there would be no problem with this and Housing Benefit would go back to paying her rent. My daughter's rent has always gone directly to the landlord, so we were unaware that there were issues with who was paying. Housing benefit have now announced that my daughter has to reapply for housing benefit and 'if she qualifies ' they will start paying again. My daughter has been living in supported housing or housing providing additional support for 13 years, (for conditions she has had since birth) and I feel she is being victimised. I'm just a 70 year mum trying to help her adult daughter live semi independently. Has anyone else had experience with this and could offer some advise?

Hi puffins

There have been a lot of issues regarding Supported Housing and liability for housing costs since UC migration. It is a complex issue and you may need personal advice. Have you tried your local Citizens Advice? Some Supported Housing landlords have financial inclusion officers who could assist you. Otherwise here is the official guidance:-

Let us know how you get on.
