Hi!
I got PIP awarded to 2027 and subsequently got a letter today that the PIP award has been extended to 2029.
However, I've had 2 cataract surgeries and only yesterday did I get my laser done. Up until yesterday I was still dealing with glare, haze and blurriness.
I was awarded PIP on the basis of the issues with my cataract. I also have something called drop attacks linked to migraines.

I still have long-standing eye issues and still use aids for assistance with things.

I'm aware having cataract surgery is a change in circumstances I should report. But my functional issues remain for everyday living.

I don't want to be penalised for not telling them as the surgery is a change of circumstances. I don't want to get to 2029 for them to turn around and say I should've told them.

Does anyone have any guidance or advice?

Hi KKPurple

If the surgery you have had has improved your condition and therefore the amount of help you need, then you have to report it to the DWP. If the surgery has had no impact on the aids and support you need, you don't have to inform them of the surgery (unless you were in overnight for 28 days - which, for cataracts, you wouldn't have been.)
