Hi,
This is my first post, so apologies if this has been asked before.
I am in receipt of PIP Enhanced care & following a MR was awarded 10 points for mobility. I have been on PIP for a number of years following assessment when DLA came to an end.
I have a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, GAD & have been referred back to the CMHT for have been referred back to the CMHT for psychotic symptoms I've experienced over the last few years - I've felt such shame over the latter symptoms that, other than my family, I've tried to hide it. The Psychiatrist also suspects that I may be on the Autistic spectrum & have been referred to the Autism department for further evaluation.

Anyway, I had a telephone assessment for my PIP review in Feb/March. I had the assessment recorded by the assessor (something I cannot advise strongly enough) and asked for a copy of their report prior to DWP’s decision.

I scored 15points on the daily living component, but not enough to be awarded any mobility points.. In the past the whole has just drained me, but thanks 🙏 to sites like this, this time I’m of a different mindset.

When I read the assessor’s report, although it was largely correct, in terms of what was said during the telephone call, and I had a family member, helping to keep me calm. What I couldn’t believe was a part where she stated that my cousin had taken me to a local park early on a Sunday morning & I thought these lads were laughing at me & became verbally aggressive (true) but my cousin calmed me down & took me home.

Well, on the report it stated that the incident didn’t result in the Police being called. When I asked for a MR, I managed to speak to a manager & said that, yes, the incident happened. However, although the police weren’t called, I wasn’t aware that it was a qualifying feature for them to be called & wasn’t asked if the police were called..

Fast forward to 8.45am on Saturday 23/5/26 & I got a phone call out of the blue from a manager to say that he’d looked again at the initial report & award & had decided to offer me 10 points on Mobility for the Planning & Following A Journey. My family & myself feel I should have got at least 12 points. He ba lasted the award for 4 weeks, when I would have thought it would go back to the PIP review period?

I’m not trying to be greedy, I’m just sick of the DWP saying they want to help the most vulnerable. When imo, the most vulnerable don’t want to be in the position of claiming & those without support fall through the cracks.

As I said earlier, I’ve got a telephone appt tomorrow to register my grounds for appeal with the Tribunal Service & having never been in this situation before, would really appreciate some tips.

Sorry for the long post!

Thank You
L

Hi InNeed

I'm sorry that there wasn't anyone available to answer your post, so you would have had your appointment by now. I hope that it was a positive experience.

Just one thing I noticed from your post is that you were unhappy about the backdating that the manager offered. Unfortunately, it is left to the manager's discretion, and we quite often hear of claimants' unhappiness about how much they have been awarded because of this.
