PIP review was created by midnightvelvet
A few weeks ago, I applied for a review of my PIP as my conditions have worsened. I have full mobility and standard care but I am now unable to reach to wash my hair or my back or my legs, due to calcific tendonitis and torn rotator cuffs on both sides.
I got someone at CAB to help me fill out the forms because my hands aren't very good.
My response only took a few weeks and it was a refusal. Reading the decision letter, it stated that I "didn't seem to be stressed or tense on my telephone consultation. I didn't have a telephone consultation! I called them to ask for a mandatory review which I thought they would send out forms, but the girl I spoke to took details on the phone, which I wasn't prepared for, and I could hear loud clicking in the background as I spoke. She would go silent for long periods of time and then continue. Not expecting to deal with it over the phone, I'm not sure I put a good case forward. I also managed to say that I didn't have a telephone consultation and her response was "Well I don't know why they said that". That was bad enough and I don't expect to get my care upgraded, but today, I received a letter acknowledging I had asked for a mandatory reconsideration based on the application I made in FEBRUARY 2026!!! Firstly, that wouldn't be considered this late on after an application, but it was June 3rd 2026 that I applied!!! This makes me very uneasy because it would seem it was not my application they are referring to. As I say, I don't expect to get my care upgraded anyway, but what should I do, if anything, about the wrong information???
I would very much appreciate some input as to what I should do next. Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi midnightvelvet
I would ring and query the dates and get them to correct the records. It's worth having the right timescale on the system, even if you think you're not going to win.
I know you got ambushed on the phone this time and hopefully it won't happen to you again, but if someone tries to do that in the future, always tell them you can't talk and you will send them a letter with anything they want to know. That way you'll always have breathing space, and you know if you put it in writing, they will have every bit of information you want to give them. You could still put something in writing if you are worried that the call-handler didn't accurately write down what you said.
