Hi, you are only the 2nd person I've responded to on here, I've normally just trawled through the info & read other folks postings but I really do know how worrying it can be! When I did work I was a resident warden on a sheltered housing scheme & part of my job was sorting out benefits for my tenants but I find it was so much easier working on behalf of other people. For a long time I classed myself as 'able bodied with restrictions' but over the years I have had to accept there are more & more restrictions because the body is no longer able We try to stay so positive about things but these forms seem to require us to lose all our positivity & I don't know about you but I go through feelings of worry, anxiety, guilt, stress & many others which I guess I'll be stuck with until it's over. In the past I've been for medicals, had Drs come to my home, had one tribunal, one work trial (which didn't - work that is lol)& it doesn't get any easier especially with all the cutbacks the gov are implementing.

They dont keep copies of previous claims, thats why its best to keep copies for yourself. Also the decision maker is likely to be a different person so approach your claim as new. I filled in a full renewal form and sent it 30th May. Got awarded for another three years with continuity ( my current allowance didnt expire until August.)by 25th June. Quick turn around too. I followed the DLA guide to the letter and they based their decision purely on my claim form and two specialist reports. My GP wasnt asked to comment although it is good to let them know you are making a claim and discuss the problems you have with them so they are fully briefed. I applied to see my GP notes and was horrified how little information the had noted despite being diagnosed for 5 years. The privately paid for consultant reports are filed seperately and destroyed after a year. I found I couldnt get copies for my claim when I asked as they had been shredded!! hope this helps you.

Very upset that the moderator yesterday was rather sharp in his reply, as this was the first time i had posted a question and was unsure. But he ho life goes on so i will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks to you both

As you are upset at my somewhat terse reply yesterday, I apologise if I offended you, because this was certainly not the intention.

The response I gave would have been the same to any other member in a similar situation. As you will have noted, I did reply to your query and as you will now be aware of the function of the forum, I don't wish to repeat the whys and wherefores of the well-established procedure.

I don't resile from the position I adopted yesterday, but with the benefit of hindsight, the response could have been worded better with a more emollient tone.
