Doctors support letter was created by Milly
I have had to obtain and pay for a supporting letter from my doctor. Can I get the money back for it from someone. £35 out of £65 per week is an awful lot of money. Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Unfortunately this is a transaction between you and your GPs surgery, so there is no way to re-claim the money, hopefully it will result in you being awarded the benefit you have applied for, and you can offset the cost against your back payments.I have had to obtain and pay for a supporting letter from my doctor. I'm weighing up the benefits of paying for a GP letter. What information do they contain?

They can vary hugely. At worst they say something like 'Mrs B has suffered from x for y years'. At best, they contain in depth information about the claimant's condition with respect to the specific descriptors for the benefit in question.
It is worth asking the GP what they are prepared to provide before spending your money on a letter.
