placed in support group for less than 3 months

Hi everyone,

I'm the carer for someone with chronic mental health problems. We recently completed an ESA50, with support from the excellent guides here (many thanks).

The dreaded letter recently arrived. But instead of the expected medical, she has been placed in the support group. However, it states that the monetary amounts listed apply "from 5
September 2012 to 27 November 2012".

We don't know whether to be pleased or not, does anyone have any idea why someone would be placed in the support group for less than three months?

Thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed!

This comes up frequently and has nothing to do with reassessment. Have a search on this site and you will find lots of threads relating to it.

Thanks for the prompt response, when I click on search, I get a 404 error. Please accept my apologies if my question was answered elsewhere.

Two further questions, if that's ok

Is requesting the ESA85A the best way to find out when reassessment is likely?

If given contributions based ESA, at amount of previous IB, is there a need to apply for income related ESA?

Many thanks once again

Sorry, I have just tested the search function and got the same message as you! We do try to encourage members to use the FAQs and search facility before posting questions as the same things come up time and time again :) It seems that the November date is something to do with DWP systems and is not related to reassessment.

Yes, he ESA85/85a should give you more details, have a look at this FAQ

ESA medical – what forms should I ask for?

Whilst DWP claim that the switch from contributary to income-related ESA should be 'seamless' it is not happening that way so you should request and ESA3 in good time.

We appear to have a problem with the search function, I have reported it to our technical support.
