Moved from WRAG to Support, but confused about WFI

I got the good news yesterday that I have been awarded entry to the support group, after being in WRAG for a year, and IB for many years prior. Sadly only for a year prognosis, so I can expect the DBE (dreaded brown envelope) to land on my doormat in 8 months time again, but for now I am happy.

However, I have my 4th WFI (or 5th if phone ones count) set for 2 weeks time, my adviser made them around 2 to 3 months apart because that the widest date they can be set. The person who rang me to tell me about the support group said I no longer have to go to WFI's. So I wondered some things (I wasn't thinking straight so forgot to ask the guy I chatted to on the phone)......

1. Am I able to cancel the one I have set for 2 weeks time ? If so, do I ring the central number, or find the local branch number that I visit ?

2. My adviser is very nice and I have got along with them very well. Do you think they (as in, any adviser) would likely be offended if I cancelled the appointment ? I don't want them to think I would cancel because I didn't like them, but obviously it is a hassle to go visit places when sick so unless I need to discuss things, which at this current time I don't, then I would prefer not to go. I also ask this as I may have to go back to see them if I end up on WRAG again next year (and I would prefer them over a stranger).

im in the same boat as you but my award was made for 2 yrs i also have a wfi even though i have been awarded support group alloawance i telepehond the dwp as i have the wfi ladys direct number at work she said that there is no information on there system yet that i have been awarded the support allowance time since i was told is 2 weeks ago and that i still have to attend the wfi untill there system gets updated however i was sent a letter confirmning the award and the lady said if i bring that at the next wfi i wont have to attend a wfi again untill my time comes when i get the dreaded brown eneverlope hope this helps

Further to Gordon's comment - you could always put a copy of the decision letter in the post for your adviser to see and save you the bother of attending.

So we don't actually need, legally, to contact our actual advise, me cancelling via anyone at the end of the phone at the Job Centre should be enough ?
