ESA Appeal

I thought I would document my case thus far for everyone. I am a full time wheelchair user having contracted Transverse Myelitis in 2004 leaving me paraplegic. I was on IB then I received a notification 14 July that I was transfering to ESA and would be in WRAG. I believe that I should be in the Support Group.
15 Aug I called their offices wanting to know how they reached their decision having submitted the ESA50 which was comprehensive as well and independant OT Report.
I was informed that 'that being in a wheelchair' doesnt prevent you from working.' Well it doesnt, however, from reading the documentation submitted I wrongly assumed that I would have scored the relevant number of points to be allocated to the Support Group. I forgot to mention that I have not even been offered a formal Medical Assessment, which strikes me as odd.
Anyway as the individual could not offer an explanation as to how they reached their decision and so I informed them that I would be appealing.
19 August I submitted the Appeal form together with a detailed letter as to why I believe their decision is wrong.
29 August I have not received an acknowledgment from DWP regarding my Appeal however, I called their offices 28 August they have confirmed receipt of it. They stated that they are so busy that there is a substantial delay in my 'Area'.
I am so incensed over this process which fails all parties involved.

Dd you know that, in order to access the Support Group under the mobility descriptor, you need to show that you are not able to self-propel your wheelchair for more than 50 metres?

I didnt know that actually, but within the ESA50 I did inform them that because of an additional accident in 2010 whereby I was hit by a taxi that I sustained aneck injury which prevents me manually propelling my chair as I loose the use of my left arm at times.
Its the fact that it would appear that they havent read the information I provided.

Hi,

Problems with upper limbs must be bi-lateral, (with both) to be counted.

Although, how any body with the use of one arm only could propel a manual wheelchair, totally confounds me.

Surely, one would end up going round in circles, I know it sounds comical, but true however. ( No insult meant)
