I am assuming that you are asking in the context of DLA and PIP. As far as I am aware, the War Pension is classed as a seperate benefit from DLA, and therefore would not be effected by the changes to DLA.

Hi Bates,

Being a War Pensioner, you are paid War Pension Mobility Supplement (WPMS) . Those not on a War Pension but have severe walking difficulties are paid Disability Living Allowance (DLA) Mobility Component. WPMS will not be affected by PIP.

However, if you have any care needs and receive DLA Care Component, then to the best of my knowledge any Care Component you receive will be reassessed when PIP replaces DLA from 2013 to 2016 which is the estimated time it will take to reassess all current DLA recipients aged 16 to 64 years of age.

We do have a moderator & Benefits Adviser (Pete) who is a War Pensioner himself, but regretfully he is currently on long term sick leave so isn't able to post in the forum for the foreseeable future.

If I were you I'd seek advice from your local British Legion, many of whom have Benefits Advisers just to confirm that what I've posted is correct, although I'm pretty sure I am.

If you don't receive DLA for care, PIP will not apply to you.

Hope this helps.

Jim
