I applied for ESA in October 2011, was put into WRAG in April 2012 and immediately lodged an appeal on the grounds that I cannot walk at all without pain and cannot use a wheelchair as sitting is even more painful. My GP refused, on principle, to write a report so I sent in statements from a couple of friends.

Then I waited... and waited... As of yesterday I had not even had the result of the recon, never mind a tribunal date. I phoned - again - yesterday to give them a poke; had a call=back from a member of the appeals team who promised that she would escalate my case and I would hear within 5 working days. Oh yeah, I thought, I have heard that before.

This morning I had a call from a Decision Maker. He ha overturned the original decision and placed me into the Support Group. Furthemore, he has stated on my records that I should not be reassessed for a further 18 months from today rather than the orginal decision.

So, I get a bit of extra dosh. I don't have to do anymore WFIs and, even better, my ESA will no longer be subject to the 365 day limit :)

I am very thankful to this site - for the guides, advice and support that I have received from members and mods alike.

Yes bro, I was. We hear of so many people, some with severe problems, being turned down altogether that I was very tempted to leave things alone. TBH, I didn't think that my argument would hold water but,as it was unlikely that my appeal would be heard before my (c)ESA ended, I reckoned I had nothing to lose.
