ESA Appeal Process was created by SBlady
I received the ESA WRAGS on the 1st January 2013 and am appealing against this decision. I have received my appeal date for end of May 2013. I am having help and advice by the Citizens Advice Centre, but they have informed me that they may be unable to represent me on the appeal date. My question is should I enlist a solicitor to help on the day of the appeal. I understand that this could be very costly as I don't qualify for legal aid and wondered if this expense would help me on the day or if I would be okay going it alone. This whole process is very very stressful and any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A lot of claimants are able to successfully represent themselves at appeal, this is not a court of law in the traditional sense and the majority of questions will be directed at you, so the input from a representative may be neglible.

If you do decide to go with a solicitor, then please make sure that they have a background in benefit law, this is a specialised area, that most solicitors will have no training in
