ESA50

I’ve returned my completed ESA50 form (only last week) and am now waiting for my medical. I have just found some additional evidence that I think I may have sent with the form. Should I send it now and ask them to attach it to my esa50 form or wait to see if I have to appeal? Also have you any idea of the timescale in the Birmingham area for the esa to be processed?
Many thanks once again

It can be difficult to marry up late evidence with the ESA50 but it is still worth a try.
The first thing to do is to contact ATOS to find out which HealthCare centre your ESA50 has been sent to.
Phone: 0800 2888 777 or 0113 230 9175
Email: customer-relations @ atoshealthcare.com (remove the spaces around the @)
You can then send you evidence to this address.
I would also send a copy to the DWP office dealing with your claim, marked for the attention of the Decision Maker.
In both cases follow these rules.
Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
Finally, if you are asked to attend an assessment, take a copy of the evidence with you and give it to the assessor to read before the interview takes place.
Best of luck

I have noticed on other post that some people have sent a copy of the completed esa50 to the DM. Unfortunatly I only read this after I had sent my form to ATOS Is it worth sending a copy the complete form (with the addition evidenace) to the DM or is it to late now? Thanks again

No it is not too late.
There used to be good reason to do this, but now less so, so it is up to you whether to or not.

I contacted Atos customer relations by email and asked where I should send additional information and they emailed me back with the address. I emailed again this morning to ask which DWP I should send information to. I got an email back saying that Atos has now provided medical advice to the benefits office who are dealing with my claim (Hanley benefit Centre) without the need for me to undergo an assessment. I expected my claim to be dealt with in my own area (Birmingham), is this normal to be sent out of area? I presume from this that I don’t have to go for a medical.
I haven’t sent the additional information as yet. Should I send it now to the Decision Maker or wait to see if I have to appeal? Thank again for your help

Hi P,
Things are not being dealt with locally as they used to be in most circumstances.
It is therefore possible that decisions are being made by a DWP DM, many miles from the location of the claimant.
If you address any further evidence that you may have :
FAO The ESA Decision Maker,
To the address on any DWP letters that you have regarding ESA, with your name, NI Number and DOB, it should end up on the right DM's desk.
Put your name and address on the back of the envelope, as your postcode will also help to divert it to the correct department.
Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
