i live with my civil partner and here are my circumstances...i am in receipt of ESA and DLA ...and my partner gets carers allowance for looking after me ...here is a breakdown our joint ESA claim
personal allowance 9couple ) £111.45 wca component (support group ) £34.05 carer premium £32.60 enhanced disability premium £21.30 total= £199.40
less income - carers allowance £58.45 = £140.95 per week
i look after my ex partner and therefore my carers premium shows in the above calculation as i have underlying entitlement to cares allowance...My civil partner who looks after me and is receiving the carers allowance that is deducted from the ESA but does not get the carers premium for looking after me...we have no other income , other than the above and no savings ....my social worker believes that my civil partner SHOULD be getting the carers premium also ...please help ...thank you
My understanding is that the Carers Premium is only payable once, as their is only one claim against which is payable, your ESA(IR), however, as this is not a benefit we advise on I would recommend that you get face to face advise from a trained advisor, see
