my story in short
i got the dreded letter from DWP telling me about the transfur then the silly pointless phone call i then got the esa for to fill in i was leaving it right up untill the last 2week before it had to be returned i will explain why soon i then downloaded the esa form from direct gov and all used all the information at my disposal to make the claim and make the form work to my favor and avoid a medical as i didnt want to face atos at first.
so i filled in the form on the computer first it didnt quite work for me so i went to plan B the revelevent q relating to my problems i asnwered on A4 paper then placed in a word doc and over the period of about a week i edited it to suit
But one day i have another brown envelope and guess what its a dla form i thought ok what do i do so i searched the net many people were saying not fill them in just the esa for i thought no my view was you sent me the form so im filling it it and so i did and it said the same word for word as the esa form and posted them both on the same day i got a letter dated 22/4/13 saying i have been awarded indefinite award i have been claiming for over 10yrs and have never had that award!!
my health problems are:
grand mal epilipsy
incontinence (no controll of bladder)
what i did:
wrote all forms out in rough first
filled in both DLA and ESA forms
used guied from B&W + plus other documents i have managed to find after many hours of searching the net many not on this site.
i never answered the phone apart from to dwp to tell me about the change i have caller id (not advisible)
sent in about 20+ parts of evidence with both forms
wrote the form in such away that i should not have been asked for a medical ((it worked for me but its risky all i will say is make it so detailed its hard for them not to get it) treat them like they treat us like were stupid)
my advice if you on the transfur like i was fill in both forms if your not sent one phone and ask or just download it make sure both forms say the same (near word for word) then if your lucky like i was you should end up staying on dla as it seems to be dla overides esa or its a glitch in there silly system at then end of the day you have nothing to loose and something to gain by sending them both in (note both forms go to diffrent address`s)
im willing to help anyone with the same health problems as myself anything else i can only offer advice
im also going to sent more info to b&w some im not sure if they have read but will forward on, one link i found tells you what atos illnesses are called for a medical (i should have been called for one) if i can post links i will add it
on esa i would have ended up in the WRAG
lastly sorry for spelling

Hi s,
I am afraid we will have to disagree with your advice to fill in ESA and DLA forms exactly the same.
They are totally different allowances with different qualifying criteria.
ESA is a Works Capability Assessment, DLA takes into account any walking limitations and/or care needs that you may have as a result of your medical conditions.
Neither would we advise that a current DLA recipient should request a review of their DLA award just because they are being migrated over to ESA.
If a current DLA recipient were to do this later on in the year, they would be reviewed under the new PIP criteria not DLA.
You may well be trying to help other members, but you will not succeed in doing so by giving poor advice.
You might have just been lucky in your own personal situation, that does not mean that other people should take the same approach.
Thanks for the kind comments regarding B&W, they are appreciated, but I had to point out the above to other viewing members.
