Hi,I have been contacted to say that I am to be sent the form to complete to be assessed for ESA,having been on incapacity benefit for a long period of time..I am aged 61yrs & due to be eligible for retirement pension in November 2014,
I interested to know if anyone has completed an assessment for ESA so near to being eligible for retirement pension and what was the outcome..... many thanks

Im 63 now and sent my assessment off in December 2012,
I got my decision for the WRAG last week and have appealed immediatly.
It doesnt really matter about your age unless youre a man and hit 65 Years old before 2104

Hi JW,
I am sure that "2104" in simply a typo.
It actually stipulates :
"Anybody who reaches State Pension Age (SPA) before 6th April 2014 will be exempted"
As seen in our FAQ :
Who will be transferred?
From our :
IB, IS, SDA, Migration to ESA FAQ’s
There is also an "upper age limit" for mandatory compliance with WFI's & WRA :
"You cannot be asked to attend a WFI if you have reached or passed the upper age limit.
For a woman this is their State Retirement Age.
For a man this is the State Retirement Age of a woman born on the same day."
As seen in our FAQ :
This is Work Focused Interviews
If you are a male, enter your gender as female, with your own DOB, on this :
State Pension Age Calculator
