DLA update

Had a letter today from DWP to apologise for delay in assessing my claim,but they are awaiting report from GP. Do they normally wait for GP report before calling you for an assessment or do they accept the report? Process seems to take forever. I have a benign spinal tumour so decision has to be referred to DWP medical advisors according to the list of medical conditions. I did send them a letter from spinal surgeon confirming diagnosis with application. I also let them know of an upcoming urgent MRI. Will they await the result of that prior to making a decision? I know: how longs a piece of string!

It is quite common for The DWP to send a DLA G.P. Factual Report, (GPFR) to a claimant's G.P.

They would obviously want to assess the information within any such report before coming to a decision.
