IB to esa medical was created by Dorothysmummy
I filled in my esa form recently to transfer from IB to esa. I used the guides but unfortunately may have written too much (who knows) as I gave more than enough information but have been told I must attend a medical centre to be assessed. I am going to ask my gp to fax them to try and get a home visit, however from what I have read online even if he will send said fax atos might not grant me the home visit. I was wondering if I do not get the home visit and obviously cannot attend the medical centre will I just not get transferred and therefore lose my ib or might they also be allowed to remove my dla too?

thanks
dolly

Hi dolly,

You are right in saying that your ESA claim is likely to be ended if you do not attend a medical when requested to do so. Of course, you would be able to appeal this decision but this is likely to be a long process and you would not get any IB/ESA payment meanwhile.

I see no reason why DWP would remove your DLA if this happened, I have not heard of this situation occurring. Many people work and claim DLA, so it is not dependent on receiving ESA.

Thank you Mrs Hurtyback, I did not see why it would be that my dla would also stop but to have someone more in the know verify this for me assures me I will not be penniless if I do something wrtong re this darn medical attendance. Hopefully atos will give me the home visit and all will work out tho.
Thank you for your time and prompt reply
