I have generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and OCD. I am currently in the support group for esa (ir).

I attended a medical assessment for my esa a couple of months ago but leading up to and for a good while after i was so much more psychologically distressed than usual and found it extremely difficult to calm down/stop panic attacks and stop being sick. I have now applied for PIP and I wondered if anybody knew of any way to have the assessment maybe over the phone? I cannot have a home visit as I can't (due to my condition) allow it.

I am getting myself so worked up. I need the money to get support but I don't think I can mentally go through another test, please help.

I am sorry but there is no way that an assessment can be carried out over the phone, ignoring the medical issues of doing this, claimants are required to provide documents to prove who they are at an assessment and this could not be achieved on a phone call.

Thanks Gordon.

I can't help but worry myself sick that even if I did go, as sick as it made me then that completely contradicts my illness, subsequently leading them to believe I am absolutely fine.

Not all PIP assessments will require that a face to face be held, they may be able to make a decision based on your claim form and any medical evidence you supply.

You should be able to have a home assessment. For DLA the majority of medical assessments were in the claimant's home.
