WRAG to Support Group help needed please. was created by houseofpat
First I would like to say a big thank you for your guides. I was being moved from long term IB and have been put in the WRAG group without a medical. Thank you so much.
I am now appealing as I think I should be in the support group and needed some more help.
My doctor would not write me a letter supporting me unless I had to appeal as Glasgow Local Medical Committee and Glasgow British Medical Council branch have told them not to. I have now spoken to my doctor as I am appealing and she has said if I hand in a letter stating what info I need she will try and help.
My question is this, should I ask her now or should I wait until the welfare rights officer from Glasgow City Council has received my appeal papers and has advised me what I need for my appeal as I don’t want to have to ask the doctor twice?
I have also been told the welfare officer will only get in touch with me after the appeal date has been set so I don’t know if that will leave enough time to get the letter from my doctor as I was not sure how much notice you get of the appeal date.

Hi Three,
Well done for being awarded ESA without a medical, thanks for letting us know - and for your kind words about this site
Another DWP Decision Maker will carry out a reconsideration and your case will only be sent to appeal if the recon is not in your favour. Obviously it is in your interest to try and get the 'correct' decision at reconsideration rather than having to go through an appeal hearing. For that reason, it is beneficial to get your doctor's letter, and any other evidence you have, submitted as soon as you are able rather than waiting until you are given an appeal date (I would expect you to get just a couple of weeks notice of this).
Decide which Support Group descriptors apply to you and ask your GP to write referring to these. A letter saying 'Three is not able to work at all' really isn't what you need - although many GPs seem to think it is!
Qualifying for the Support Group
