hi, I am about to receive an esa50 from DSS for transfer from IB to ESA do I need to see my doctor for a report on my health and disabilities or does DSS request this as I have been told that I should add as much evidence as possible to back up my claim, any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Edward,
DWP are not obliged to contact your medical advisors and, in fact, seldom do so. For this reason you should submit as much evidence as possible along with the ESA50. If there is anything that you cannot get in time, you should make sure that the form is sent in time and anything else can be sent along afterwards if necessary.
You should decide which of the ESA descriptors apply to you and try to submit evidence/information that backs this up
Qualifying for the WRAG
Qualifying for the Support Group
You might prefer to fill in the PDF version of the form, that way you won't have so much to do when your reassessment comes round
Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire
If you mark this thread as a favourite, or bookmark it, you will find it easily in future. That way you will be able to return to this topic/thread to ask further questions and we will have everything in one place.

GPs are not required to provide reports and letters for patients, so be aware they may refuse to assist you and if they do offer to help, they can charge.
Charging for medical records
