Hello, and welcome to the site. This will help you find your way around
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Firstly, I would like to point out that your site username appears to be your real name. Many people prefer to use an alias in order to maintain some anonymity. If you wish to change your username, you can do it easily by following the advice in this FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I'm afraid that I am a little confused by your post. You don't say for which benefit you are applying, but you do go on to say something about a 'DLA doctor'. DLA medicals are carried out by ATOS, I'm not aware that DWP employ any doctors directly.
Is your claim for DLA? If so, your medical must be one of the last few for DLA since this benefit has now been superceded by PIP for new claims (either that or this is a DLA renewal perhaps?).

Barbara, please forgive me. I see that the title of your thread clearly states 'DLA medical'!
This should have been carried out by an ATOS doctor as I don't believe DWP employ doctors directly. I'm sure one of my colleague moderators will correct me if I am wrong!
Although time scales can differ considerably, I would expect you to hear from DWP within a couple of months now. It would be worth phoning to see what is happening if you haven't heard anything by then.

Hi Mrs HB,
In my opinion you are correct, the DWP subcontracts medicals to ATOS and to Capita, they don't employ doctors directly from my experience. Unless of course they've started employing doctors and kept it quiet.
Best regards.
Jim
