Just when we thought it couldnt get any worse another dig of the boot into the fallen corpse of Social Security is visciously announced.!
10 year Jail Terms with bread and hard labour for petty scroungers!
Ha!Theres precious little Benefit left to scrounge and we alreday have attempts at forced labour.
My question?
When does this change in the law apply from and what is the likelihood of it being more than scaremongering and being widespredededly applied?
This from the System that is taking way OAPs fuel allowances & begrudging Claimants a £10 Christmas bonus which has not risen for 20 years!
(France grants it Claiments up to 700 Euros over Christmas refeclting the actual European cost)
See you in the hulks.

James

It is not a change to the law but a change to the guidance user by the Crown Prosecution Service.

A change in the guidelines-yes.Not a change in the law just a suggested reinterpretation of it.
There must be very many Claiments in contravention of some petty Benefit rule or other-
ESA for example.
Could we please have increased monitoring and tabs on the situation of prosecutions
as its a matter of great interest to many Claimants not necessarily in that position but
feeling draconian measures are unfair against even guilty ones.?

My contacts at the DWP and Ministry of Justice inform me that this news has once again been reported out of context in the media.

It will be only the most serious cases of benefit fraud that will be prosecuted by the Crown Prosecution Service. (CPP) These include for example, multiple claims by landlords for tenants that do not exist, and similar multiple claims for benefits from false claimants who do not have a National Insurance Number.

'Minor' claims, and I make it clear that I deprecate fraud of any kind by claimants will continue to be investigated and where necessary prosecuted by the DWP and not the CPP.
