face covering exemption policy, if any?? 1 month 5 days ago #249114

Hi it was really to see if you have any advice about exemption for medical reasons over mask wearing?

My children's Dad has epilepsy and he cannot drive a year after each seizure, so he takes the bus to come visit the kids every day. He suffers from quire aggressive seizures which have in the past happened while he was on the buses. He has a disabled bus pass due to his medical condition. He was told to wear a mask or leave the bus station, when he explained about his seizures, they did not care and warned him to leave or they would call the police.

He showed then his disabled bus pass and it made NO difference, they ordered him to either cover his face or leave. This has happened in Glasgow bus Station and from Drivers on the buses (not all Drivers) but the majority. If he has a seizure while wearing a face mask, he will likely suffocate, unless there is any decent folk on that bus to help him. The reduced oxygen in covering your mouth and nose will also quite likely cause a seizure.

Is there any info about exemption cards being made for people with medical issues as just advising folk that you have a medical issue does not work. Glasgow is usually a really friendly City but fear has spread and that has changed which is an awful shame.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated, thanks Layla

Hi Layla,

I am afraid this is not a subject we offer help with on the forum however I would suggest you get your husband to talk with there GP about getting an exemption letter.

Current government guidance of face coverings can be found by clicking HERE

Hope this is of some assistance.

face covering exemption policy, if any?? 3 weeks 1 day ago #249472

Hi Layla,
I did hear on the news that there are charities supplying exemption badges. Am interested myself because I get panic attacks with a mask on and feel a bit faint whenever I try to wear one for any length of time. Not that I am going to any shops at the moment, get my shopping on-line and have not used any public transport since lockdown. Not going anywhere. I have the taxicard service and called a cab the other day to travel to the cemetary to visit my long dec'd husband's grave. However I will have to use the public transport at some point in time.
I found this
