Re apply for ESA 4 years 5 hours ago #202811

Hi Gordon I have recently gone through my DLA toPIP process using the guides from this fabulous site I had a home assessment (which I requested )and I found it daunting as it lasted nearly two hours and I was extremely anxious , but less than two weeks later a brown envelope dropped through the letterbox, my son had to open it as I was too anxious, he read it out to me ... enhanced rate for daily living and enhanced rate for mobility! I was so pleased and surprised that they understood how severe my illnesses affect my life ! I messaged you a while back telling you about my disasterous esa assessments and appeals ( all payments for wrag group have now stopped a few days before my pip news ) although dwp did write to me to say that they have looked at my claim again following a recent change (pip success I assumed) and decided they cannot pay me esa because I had reached the max of365 days that I can get contribution based esa. Since I had my last esa assessment in November 2016 my conditions and symptoms are getting more severe , would it be a good idea to make a fresh application for esa considering my health and pip success? Jue

From your previous post you were being assessed to see if you were eligible for Income Related ESA, how did this work out.

Although your ESA(CB) has ceased payment you still in effect have an ESA award.

In principle you can make a new claim for ESA(CB) and receive another 365 days of payment but you will need to re-meet the Contribution Conditions, this will require you to have worked in the Tax Years 2014-15 or 2015-16 if you claim this year or 2015-16 2016-17 if you claim next year, the year used must also be later than that used when you made your current claim.

Alternatively, if you think that you meet the criteria for the Support Group then you can ask to be reassessed and if you are placed in the group then your ESA(CB) will be reinstated.

Gordon Thankyou , I was not able to receive income based esa because of my husbands pension , I haven't been able to work (because of ill health ) since 2002 dwp told me I didn't have enough contributions to be able to receive any more payment, I think I should be in the support group but would they consider this just by my existing illness making my living more difficult with more pain? I had previously been in the support group Jue

You will have to declare a deterioration in your conditions, but you should only do this is you can reasonably show that you meet one or more of the Support Group Descriptors. Can you do this?

Thankyou Gordon. I am sure I can , my GP has supported me all the way so far and I'm sure she will write another letter of support for me , I have a appointment with her in January so I might leave it until then so I can explain everything to her , is there a time scale on re applying ? Jue

So you're not re-applying you would be reporting a Change of Circumstances, you can do this at any time.
