Going abroad and DWP rules was created by darkchild101
I intend to go abroad for two months and am waiting for an ESA assesment date. How long can one be out of the country for without falling foul of DWP rules
I intend to notify DWP of the dates I'm away

Thanks

I'm afraid you can only leave the country for four weeks without it affecting your ESA. See

  			 				Hi Gordon
If I'm going to be getting treatment will they require proof of the payment. I want to try treatment which is not available on the NHS and is much cheaper in said country

Thanks

They will require details of the treatment, I know of someone who was told that the treatment they were going abroad for was not recognised by the NHS and therefore could not be used to extend the standard four weeks.
