Currently, it is anybody's guess.

Before the current virus outbreak, there were long delays in the ESA assessment process with some members reporting waits of six months, for PIP, there were delays in both the assessment and Decision processes with average times for each being in excess of ten weeks.

The current ban on face to face assessments is likely to extend wait times in the short term but may reduce times in the medium to long term, however, it is likely that some claims will not lend themselves to either of these so we could see some claimants left waiting for a Decision, only time will show how many might be affected in this way.

We also need to consider that both assessors and DMs are not immune from exposure or infection and this may well reduce the availability of staff to actually carry out the assessment processes adding to delays.
