Hiya.
My local MP has taken my national insurance number and is contacting the DWP on my behalf.
Does anyone know what I might expect?

Your MP may be able to get the DWP and the Assessment Provider to wait for the report and they can ensure that it is given the proper attention.

Hiya all.

My MPs secretary (the one who's been communicating with me) is on leave athe moment. She gave me the MPs direct email address should I need to contact him in an emergency.

Yesterday a nurse working for the DWP called my doctor to ask further questions. She told my doctor that I would still have to attend a telephone medical as I homeschool and basic if I can do that I must be fine. She informed my doctor they'd be sending out a medical assessment date through the post.
My doctor said if needs be I can do the call with her.

An hour later the appointment letter landed through my front door for 9.15am this Monday.

My doctor only works Mondays and Thursdays so Monday is the next day I can get in contact with her.
I emailed my MP stating everything that had happened and how homeschooling benefited my mental health.

I haven't heard back from my MP as yet and I'm concerned that it's Friday and the assessment is on Monday. The last I spoke to the MPs secretary they were still awaiting a response from the DWP.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do to be honest.

Doing this phone call on Monday is going to cause a massive deterioration in my health (which is already bad enough) and I could turn completely numb and catatonic while I have a child to look after.

I've already cancelled several phone appointments and they've told me they could cancel my claim.

I'm not sure what to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is there no vulnerability rules?

Hi Sasha

I'm sorry that you have found yourself in such a position. In answer to your question about vulnerability, there are only a small number of people who are not assessed, and therefore a lot of 'vulnerable' people are forced to go through assessments.

I'm afraid I can't advise you what do here, only to reiterate that if you refuse to take the call, your claim will be returned to the DWP and there is a real danger of your claim being canceled.

I know there is a danger that this is going to call you great distress, but you are better to explain to the assessor the difficulty you have in taking part than doing nothing at all. The DWP spoke to your doctor and it seems your doctor didn't take the opportunity to say that this would cause a deterioration in your mental health. You should ring your doctors first thing Monday morning - 8 o'clock and see if they are able to be on the call. You might be lucky.
