TOPIC: Disability working tax credits - lost or kept?

Disability working tax credits - lost or kept? 1 week 10 hours ago #246161

For the thousands of people on the government job retention scheme, What happens to their disability working tax credits. will they be continued or suspended? A lot of vulnerable disabled people rely on this.

May I suggest you contact the office dealing with your tax credits claim.

Unfortunately we cannot give you specific advice about tax credits.

Sorry.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Disability working tax credits - lost or kept? 1 week 7 hours ago #246177

Thank you.
Yes I have tried but impossible to get through to the helpline atm.
I thought the government might have put support in place to protect their 'much relied on' tax credits. As it is through no fault of their own when the government has forced their place of work to temporarily shut down.
The only bit I heard on tax credits, was that the government will increase them... However who will benefit from this when thousands have had their job suspended and may or may not now qualify for tax credits anymore.
The worry of suspending or ending disability working tax credits would then force claimants onto uc as no new tax credits claims will be allowed.

This is worrying me too - no one can answer my question.

We are covered by the migration guarantee when we are eventually moved to UC, however if we move due to change of circumstances we are not given that guarantee- any help offered so far, unless you are employed and not able to work - they seem to have their own 80% of pay package.
I had an awful thought, my husband is self employed and is self isolating for 12 weeks as he has diabetes, I bet the help will be through universal credit!! This is a very underhand way to get people to move from tax credits paid weekly onto UC paid monthly and losing the elements of tax credits- surely lots of us are in the same boat??

Hi EMMA

The Government should be anouncing something tomorrow in regards to the self employed and coronavirus.
