TOPIC: UC increase & Housing Costs

UC increase 2 months 1 week ago #246204

Following the Chancellor's announcement that UC claimants are to receive an extra £1,000 for twelve months, can anyone confirm if this increase is likely to have any impact on the housing costs element of UC.

Your real name is showing when you post, you may want to change this, please see here if you do:

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I am unsure whether it would affect the housing element or not, but from what I understand is it should not affect it.

The new systems being put in place are a learning curve for us all I am afraid so I am sorry I can not be more definite for you in my answer.

Thank you, I have amended my name.

I fully appreciate you being unable to provide a definite response, but it was just something that occurred to me, that it would be very disingenuous of the government to give with one hand and then take back with the other.

I am hoping it doesn't, but I will just have to wait until I get my next payment in April to find out.

Thanks again for your response.

I had heard that some LA are extending housing discrepancy grants so its worth asking, especially if you have to pay extra for an extra bedroom and need to self isolate

best wishes
