How long to make a decision for PIP? was created by traceytracey
Hi, It's my first time in a forum and my first time of claiming anything. I just wondered if anyone could help?
I went through the PIP assessment and was awarded the lower rate and nothing for mobility. I queried something on their decision and the next thing I know they said they would reject my claim. I then did mandatory appeal form and they ignored my further evidence. They just sent me a reply saying i could appeal if I want to!. I appealed which they received last December and I am still waiting for a hearing date, is this normal? I have phoned the courts and they tell me that I am in the queue.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
I've moved your post to its own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other member's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.
Other members are reporting Tribunal wait times as nine months and increasing.
You should have received the DWP's submission for the appeal, I would go through this and in particular the assessment report to understand how they made their Decision.
For your part, you will need to show how you meet the PIP criteria sufficiently for an award to be made. I would start by going through our PIP Claim guide, your PIP2 and the report to make sure that you have explained how you meet the legally defined criteria. You need to be able to complete each activity "reliably" and "on the majority of days", these terms are defined in the guide. See
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
The PIP area also has our guides for appealing a Decision and other resources that you may find useful.
If you have any specific questions then reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi Gordon,
Thank you for your reply. I have been going through your guides and am finding them very helpful. I just hope I can do myself justice once I actually get an appeal date.
p.s sorry for posting twice, I realised after I posted the first time that perhaps I should have entered a seperate one, as you have done. Thank you.
