WRAG to Support was created by Marie22
Hi

I just wanted to let the forum know I have received a letter stating I am now in the Support group. I had been moved from IB to WRAG without a medical. I appealled for the Support group. when I look back to the inital phone call I made asking for an appeal form & being told on the phone that I was more or less wasting my time as Support is only for the terminally ill or the most severely disabled I feel (eventually) I have successfully jumped over a huge obsticle. That's why I'm letting people know that I succeeded as without hearing other people's success I think I would have been too afraid or failed to have the confidence to appeal. Reading what happened to others gives you the belief it can be done. It has been almost 6mths from inital change over & apart from that first phone call I feel fortunate that anyone I spoke to from the DWP (one decision maker & one review officer who came to my home, unannounced & really scared me at first)have been nothing but polite & helpful, thankfully I didn't have to go through the nightmare of an ATOS medical. My only question is it doesn't state how long I have been place in Support group or any indication of when my review will be, should I phone/write for this information ?

Again, thanks for all the help on here, this is a very complicated benefit where the odds are stacked against you so I can only recommend joining this site to read & read & read as much as you can all the information & guidelines that are available. To go into this blind & ignorant of what you are facing can only be a disaster, I can't stress how important it is to familiarize yourself with the information provided here. Good luck everyone.

Well done Marie, thank you for sharing your good news with us :) As you say, hearing success stories from other members gives hope to other people.

Unlike DLA, ESa is an open-ended award that is not given for a fixed time. If you contact DWP they should be able to give you an idea of when to expect reassessment, but you should be aware that this is only advisory.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi M22,

Well done on appealing to gain entry to the SG, and winning. :cheer:

Thanks for letting us all know.

If you wish to know the expected length of the SG award, you should contact the DM who revised the WRAG decision, it may also be documented in the LT54 form, see :

ESA Forms

This revised SG award will now be backdated to the date of original WRAG award that you have successfully appealed.
