Timescales for PIP assessment, hopefully it might all go as quickly as the beginning has.
Completed the assessment form and returned it by Recorded Delivery 21st March, they received it 26th March.
I received an appointment letter 1st April for an appointment on 15th April, person I spoke to couldn’t believe how quick the letter was coming to me.
Im having surgery on 7th April so it would be really stupid to keep the appointment, she could only offer me another up to the end of April, said they only release a few weeks in advance.
Theres only 1 chance of changing appointments, even if having surgery, so suggested I call back next week.
I live in North Herts, the appointment is for NW11, Golders Green North London, which is 35 miles away, time is 9am so to get there I would need to leave here at 7am and thats if Im driving which I cant do for 6 weeks.
I asked if I could change centres to North of where I live, Luton is only 12 miles away and much easier to get to so hopefully that will be the assessment centre.
Im hoping the rest of the process is as quick as this, but watch this space  

I am afraid the number of appointments that a claimant can move is an operational procedure between the DWP and the assessment companies, as far as I am aware this information is not in the public domain at the moment.

So far, so good.
I contact PIP appointment assessors last Friday and explained I couldnt make the scheduled appointment for tomorrow due to surgery.
Person I spoke to was very helpful, said he'd change the assessment site to one closer to my home and at a more convenient time and date.
As I said before the scheduled site is 35 miles from where I live, he has now changed this to a site which should be the closest to my home, I now have an appointment at 2 pm and it is only 8 miles away.
So wonderful.

I still dont understand if all the appointments are booked closest to where you live but the first option for me was 35 miles away at 9am in North London, this would be a nightmare to get to in rush hour traffic, either by car or public transport.
I know this as this is the area I cover for my full time job.
So glad it has been changed and to say it is possible if you ask.
