ESA to Pension Credit? was created by simplejohnny
I have in the past used this web site which has helped me enormously when transferring from Incapacity Benefit to ESA. With this help I was able to get on the ESA Support Group.
Now I've another problem.
I've had a letter from the DWP stating that I reach the minimum age for Pension Credit in May 2015 and I can transfer if I wish but I can also stay on ESA but I cannot have both.
What do I do? I've searched for help but cannot find anything to help/advise me. What amount do I receive in Pension Credit? Will it effect the DLA I have or will I have to claim PIP? I'm confused and would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi SJ,
Whether you would be better off claiming ESA or PC depends on your financial position, it is not something that we can advise about in any detail. You would be well served to see a Welfare Right advisor and ask them to do a 'better off' calculation for you.
You should find someone who can do this by putting 'Welfare Rights' and your town/district into a search engine. You could also get help from CAB or, possible, Age UK.

Your eligibility and what you will be paid should you be transferred to PC will depend on your personal circumstances, so you need to get face to face advice from a qualified advisor who can calculate what you might receive, something we cannot do on the forum.
Switching to PC will not affect your DLA or cause a re-assessment of your claim, again depending on your circumstances and the level of DLA you receive it may enable entitlement to Premiums that are not currently paid.
