Current DLA award, info needed! 6 years 10 months ago #132064

I'm looking for some advice please, I have just had the results of my re-assessment for DLA and thanks to the great guides on this site I have been awarded middle rate care and high rate mobility awarded until March 2018!

I'm absolutely over the moon with this as before I was only receiving low rate care and to be honest I was unsure about asking for my award to be relooked at as it's always a risk!

Anyway my new award has now given me the chance to have a Motability car which will make a massive change to my standard of living. However this is where the advice is needed; After read the news letter that you guys have sent out today, I'm concerned about the DLA change to PIP!

My question being will I stay on DLA until 2018 and then have to apply for PIP or will this happen before and put my new Motability car at risk? I was intending to sell the 13 year old run-around I currently have; which could mean I will have no transport at all!

Hope this makes sense?

And once again thanks to this great site and their info! we really appreciate it!

Welcome to the Forum

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Congratulations on the increased award.

I would expect you to invited to claim PIP when your current DLA award approaches it's renewal date in 2018, probably at the end of 2017, the transfer process starts 20 weeks in advance of a renewal.

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for the info, I was just a bit panicked when I saw the newsletter, I didn't want to say yes to a new car only to find it was taken away in 9 months or so! This is all new to me!

Thanks for the great job you all do; I wouldn't even have asked for my DLA to be reassessed if it wasn't for the info on this site!

Regards, WMG75
