awarded pip but feel scores are low was created by jakkijax
hi folks. my first post.

I have been awarded my pip on both parts. which is good news after I read a lot on here. was very helpful.

my question is I feel on one point It was out of 8 I only scored 2. I think it should of been higher. now ... do I challenge this or do I leave well alone ?

I just feel the low score means they didn't take my answer seriously.

am I making sense sorry if not.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You don't say what you scored in total and what you think that you should have scored?

If you only scored 8 points in total and would only expect to score another two points, or you scored 12 points, then I would consider very carefully before challenging the Decision, in the former case, you will not receive a higher award and in the latter you cannot receive a higher award whether more points are give or not.

If you can provide more information we may be able to help you make a more informed decision.

thankyou for you information. I think I've altered things.

one issue I have with the scoring is I have a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder and anxiety with panic attacks. I don't leave the house much and when I do it's 99% with someone else.

if I get I to a situation where there are people often I have to leave or I start to become confrontational..

hence I don't mix with anyone.

on the mixing with other people there is a potential score of 8 ... I got 2... I think it's low. although as previously stated. I have passed the daily living by getting 13 points.

do I 1 ask for a full set of notes.
2 tell them i think the score is too low
or 3 leave it alone

thanks I'll take a look at the other bits you suggested but my phone isn't displaying 5h3 pages properly. I'm in process of sorting computer out.

regards j

You need to have a good read of the Descriptors for this activity, there is a significant change in the criteria between Descriptor (b) which scores 2 points and (c) and (d) which score higher.

I can't advise what you should do in regard the award, that's a decision that only you can make but a good place for you to start would be for you to request a copy of the assessment report, you can do this by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

The PIP Claim guide explains the criteria you will need to meet to score higher.
