Hi basically im making a big purchase and my dad said he will pay half towards it, he is going to give me the cash and I am going to put it in my bank so I can pay it on my card, but my balance would be 7500 which is over the savings limit but would only be that amount for 1 day , is that ok? Or do I have to tell the dwp even though it's only going to be that amount for 1 day? Or should I pay the half on my card and my dad pays other half on his card? Just wondering as I don't wanna get in trouble.

Whilst money gifted from a family member should be disregarded, your going over the £6000 limit could cause problems that I am sure that you would preder to avoid, so either

- have him pay the total amount and you pay him your part (not recommended if you can avoid it),

- You both pay for the item

- You pay the total and your father pays directly to your credit card company.
