DLA TO PIP

Hi. I was claiming DLA for 33 years and I was awarded the higher rate mobility, for years I have had the good fortune to be able to lease a Motability car and keep my independence and able to go out to work. I got the dreaded brown envelope in July to convert to PIP. I completed it using the wonderful advise from your website and posted it to them on my birthday so I could always remember the date of posting. I then needed a face to face assessment. I was awarded standard rate for mobility needs, 10 points instead of the 12 needed. I guess you can imagine how low my heart sank. The very next day came the letter from Motability advising of when I needed to return my car. I was in a mess. I completed a mandatory reconsideration form with your help as I found errors stated from my assessment. I also asked for the time limit to be extended as it runs out in 2021. Yesterday I received a letter saying that they had awarded me the 12 points and now I have the enhanced rate for mobility needs - THANK YOU. Phoned Motability today and sorted out the car which I can now keep until the end of the lease period. Unfortunately DWP did not extended the time limit. This means that at the end of my lease in July next year I will not have the 3 years needed to be able to lease a car again. I guess this needs to be done through a tribunal. Without that extended time I will have to give up my job and be practically housebound. If I appealed to a tribunal would I be able to just appeal the time limit awarded as I am now happy with the award I have.

I cant thank you enough for that advise. I rang Motability and they have confirmed what you have said. I am so grateful that this is now over for at least a couple more years. If it wasn't for your website and this help form the forum I don't know how I would have got through.
