PIP face-to-face consultation before PIP renewal d was created by ladedah
My 18yr old son has ADHD and changed from DLA to PIP in 2016. I'm his appointee. His PIP award is granted until 22/06/19.
DWP wrote to me a few months ago, looking for an update on his ADHD and I sent his recent report from CAMHS.
Today I received a letter stating I must attend a face-to-face consultation on 1/11/18 (along with my son) to discuss his health condition/disability further. We only have a few weeks' notice.
Obviously we are both anxious about this, and from what |'ve heard from other people, they will probably stop this payment. Also, I don't understand why this consultation is due now when his award is up for renewal in June 2019.
Any advice would be great. Sorry if this topic has already been covered, but it's my first time on the site.
Thank you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Nearly all PIP awards are reassessed a year in advance of the award ending.
Did you receive an AR1 Review form in June?

Name changed, thanks for that. I did complete a form a few months ago. Can't remember the name of it, but it didn't ask for much info. Just if the condition is the same, better or worse, and I sent current medical evidence.
I didn't realise they were reviewed about 8 months in advance.
I'm not going to have time to arrange for anyone to accompany me, and am anxious about this face-to-face.
Also, is it true these consultations are now being recorded? We live in Scotland. Thank you for any advice. Will have a look around the site.

There is a proposal to record all PIP assessments but it has not been implemented, so you will need to do this yourself.
You need permission in advance from the Assessment Provider to make the recording.
It needs to be made to two tapes of CDs simultaneously.
You cannot use a digital recorder such as a mobile phone.
A member has reported problems if the media is not new, so make sure that the tapes or CDs are still shrink wrapped and opened in the presence of the assessor.
You need to give one of the recordings to the assessor.
Most members have used two relatively cheap cassette recorders, check that they record without problem, some have used external microphones.
