Medical 'statements' - Freepost ESA address

Hi,

I just received one of those charming 'we need your questionnaire urgently' letters, and it states that your medical statements must go to your job centre plus (i've never been there or know which one deals with my case). Getting past the whole, what the hell is the difference between medical statements and reports headache... I rang up the DWP and they gave me the freepost ESA address for posting in the medical statements, however it is different to last year - this one is ESA 21 (wales?) and last year I sent to ESA 2 (Basildon), only discovering so post-telephone call. I live in neither place, does it matter where I send it?

Thanks guys as always.

Medical statements mean your Fit Notes.

Whilst claims are usually handled by a local office, if it is busy then it can be moved to another office. I would use the address you have just been given but be aware you cannot send it via a tracked post.

As an alternative and assuming you can scan the Fit Note to your computer then you can submit it online, see

www.gov.uk/send-fit-note

Hi,

Oh, that's weird. I've been on ESA so I haven't had fit notes since before I started the full esa50 process at the beginning of last year? Will that be an issue? Perhaps that's why it wasnt in my original esa50 questionnaire letter. The 'urgent' letter says 'please do not send medical statements with your quesitonnaire. Send them to jobcentre. Medical statements are also known as medical certificates, doctor's statements or sick notes'. - so does that mean for those that haven't been assessed before essentially?

If this is a reassessment of an existing ESA award then you don't need to provide Fit Notes, it is likely a standard letter, parts of which do not apply to you.
