A huge thank you to all at Benefits and Work, I successfully achieved ESA with medical to get in support group, they actually phoned me at home and said I was too ill to go to work!
I also applied for DLA 2 years ago with your help and received the higher rate of both care and mobility for 2 years due to run out in September 2013. I was contacted 6 weeks ago regarding reclaiming which I did again through this site and have yet again succeeded in both higher rates for care and mobility lasting for 3 years this time!! All due to this site and your great advice, what a wonderful organisation you are. Thank you all once again I couldn't have done it without you!!!! :P  :P

Hi lh,

The DWP's stance on the age issue is as follows :

If you were already 65 or over on the day personal independence payment (PIP) was introduced in April 2013 and you were already getting disability living allowance (DLA), then you would not have been affected.

You would have continued to receive DLA in the normal way after PIP was introduced. However, the DWP have said that they would still want to see how PIP works for people aged between 16 and 64 before deciding whether to extend it to any people that were over 65. So there is still a possibility that such people may be affected at some time in the future.

As it seems that you were not 65 years or over in April 2013, you can expected to be invited to claim PIP.

As you have indefinite awards of DLA you should not be invited to claim PIP until after October 2015.

I currently get an indefinite award of disability living allowance (DLA). Will I be automatically entitled to personal independence payment (PIP)?

What is the timetable for introducing personal independence payment (PIP)?

Of course, we have the small matter of an election before October 2015.
