ESA Wrag support was created by Jayne
Does anyone know what happens to ESA claimants when the 2 years (104 weeks) of support from a work programme provider to do wrag wfi's and prepare for work finishes but have not been able to move into work due to their health/disabilities but still eligible for ESA?

Is the work programme provider support renewed?

Thanks

Hi Jayne,

I'm not sure of the answer to your exact question. However, the maximum time before a WRAG award is expected to be reassessed is 2 years. I would expect the process to start all over again if the claimant were again placed in the WRAG.

Perhaps one of the other mods will have more knowledge of the process.

I do not think anybody knows at the moment as nobody receiving ESA will have been on the Work Programme for two years until the end of this year at the earliest!

I am afraid it is impossible to say whether the DWP will admit defeat and agree that such a claimant is not employable, or will take the view that they just have not found the right job yet, although my bet is on the latter. Of course this ignores how the Work Programme Provider might view it, recent statistics show that the success rate for ESA claimants is significantly lower than that for able bodied claimants on JSA.
