Does anyone know if someone on a pension and attendance allowance has any deductions made from a HB or CT claim f they have a non dependant living with them?  Also does it vary from council to council?

@Jj There are no non-dependent charges for HB or CTS/CTR if the tenant or their partner receives a disability benefit, such as AA. This is national rules.

@Tony As of right now, before the current raises coming in April (they come AFTER my april payment so I guess I get the new rate in May), the rates are:

Standard allowance: £368.74 (Single, over 25)
      LCWRA: £390.06 (Single, over 25)

      As of NEXT month when the new rates come in, this will allegedly go up to;

      Standard Allowance: £393.45
      LCWRA: £416.19
This makes for an increase of £50.84 more per month

      Hope this helps c:

@Tony 390+standard living amount. No benefit cap with LCWRA on any benefits. Plus if you have children their element as well

I just learned that there is no clarity when the 'increase' calculation actually starting. "By Law... with protocol dictating that (ESA benefits) start from the full first week of new financial year..." (in 2024, it will be on April 8th). However, DWP just explained that my ESA's increase will start from 11 April 2024, with an odd reasoning 'they don't calculate by a day, but by the whole week!' (Which is contrary to what I remember). With that delay, I am going to lose £102.80! (And not easy to get somebody on the phone... or frankly, make a written enquiry to DWP). P.S. But if my suspicion is right, and I am not only in this situation.... think of that amount of money the DWP can withhold!!!

@May Apart from ESA, all my other benefits calculations started from 8th!!!

@Enn This is how the benefits work - when the rates are increased, it's the first scheduled payment after that date which reflects the change. It's the same for everyone.

@Deb Do not let them push you aside. You deserve to be heard and you deserve everything you’re entitled too. They tried doing it to me. But I’m one stubborn bitch lol. I just kept going and going till someone listened to me. No one gets listened to any more from medical professionals. They are so run off there feet. I feel so so bad for them. It’s awful. They don’t get paid anywhere near enough for the work they do. It’s not about care anymore. It’s about keeping costs down. And it’s so wrong. I have so many medical problems. I could write a book and fill it. With just my medical issues. I’m having so many issues right now. But I’m overdue with all my blood tests I have to have every 3 weeks. And my scans every month. I’m in so much more pain and in different areas. That I should be seeing a doctor asap. 1 I can’t get an appointment and 2. I feel quilty in case I’m taking the doctors time up when they could be helping someone else with serious problems. I’ve always cared too much about others. And never myself. Mainly strangers. I get told from everyone I care too much. That I don’t think about my own health and needs. I can’t help it tho. So I would rather sit at home in pain in silence than take up appointments at the doctors. Anyway so sorry for rambling. Please please. Just keep pestering them. You deserve to be heard. And you deserve for someone to listen to everything you need to say. Do not let them treat you like you don’t matter. Because you really do. I hope it helps. And I really hope you get the help you need. Sending you care hearts. 🥰🥰

@Arron People  with anxiety  and depression  can be very debilitating  as well can understand  that you feel that you should also get  pip but  mental  health has been ignored  for a very long time

@Arron Have you had a MR, if what you say is correct then you should not allow people to withhold what you are clearly entitled to. Your local CAB or Adult Services should be able to help with how to proceed if you wish to. But please do not measure one person’s medical or mental health against your own without knowing all the facts. Good luck with however you wish to proceed.

@Tina If you check last year's letter and the year before for some reason it is always like this you will still be paid through until next April and next year's letter will probably say the same if this is any help

@Tina I can't seem to find anything that explains it.   Even the wording of the letter has changed and talks about income related benefits and then contributory benefits underneath it.   I'm not on any means tested benefits so its puzzling.  Anyway If you do find anything I'd appreciate it if you could let me know ok.

@Sean Please don’t tell people that they will get LCWRA simply because they are on long term sick, it’s not a guarantee and a medical assessment is required.
    • Thank you for your comment. Comments are moderated before being published.
      Sean · 2 months ago
@Mary Sorry, the form cut most of the characters out..

..You will continue to get the standard allowance whilst being told to attach sick lines to your UC journal afterwhich, you'll receive the Limited capability for work and work-related activity (£400 extra per month)

This will only be paid if you are unlikely to return to work in the future. You will not be asked to look for work or prepare for going back to work.

    Hi,

I get the standard daily living but enhanced rate of PIP. I am also entitled to LCWRA payments due to the fact I cannot physically work at all.

I’ve recently heard about ‘transitional protection’ when I ceased working and moved to UC, but never received this payment? Should I have?

Also, I was advised that I should be entitled to additional payments for a disability premium, but again I’ve not received this from UC?

I’m very new to all this as it’s the first time I’ve ever been unable to work and had to make a claim. Please could I ask for some guidance.

    Thank you all.

      Jill · 3 months ago
@Ellis Yes you are entitled to both. I get both and I work part time from home. You can still get the enhanced rate of UC even if you work, so you are definitely entitled to it. Just inform them about it as they are two different departments.

@Ellis It's not for when you cease working, it's for when you move from legacy benefits to UC.
