David Cameron was asked whether the government report into food poverty and food bank use has been ‘suppressed’ in Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday (22nd Jan).

Huw Irranca-Davies, Labour MP for Ogmore, asked the PM why he is afraid of publishing the report that Defra commissioned in February 2013 and told him to ‘publish and be damned’. He said the report was shown to ministers late last year, but still has not been released to the public.{jcomments on}

The PM used the opportunity to promote the fall in unemployment, 7.1 per cent in the three months to November to 2.32 million, but did not answer the question.
