Labour MP Michael Meacher has announced on his blog that government minister Mark Hoban is to meet a delegation on 10 September to discuss ‘how the whole Atos system can be improved’.  {jcomments on}

Following the announcement last week that all Atos health professionals are to be retrained and the multinational's work capability assessment monopoly broken up, the government now appears to be ready to have a dialogue with campaigners.

To what extent this will lead to any real change either to the WCA itself or to Atos practices, such as heavy reliance on health professionals with little knowledge of mental health, is yet to become clear.

Meacher also does not say whether the delegation will include We are Spartacus, the campaigning group who have caused the government so much embarrassment and with whom they have consistently refused to talk.
