Following an out-of-the-blue announcement last month, the BBC has now gone ahead with the closure of its enormously popular disability message board at BBC Ouch. The last message was posted on the board on Friday 8 July.

Users were advised by the BBC to use Facebook and Twitter as a means of contacting each other and discussing issues. However, many Ouchers were very concerned about both privacy issues and the level of harassment and abuse which many disabled people face on these platforms.

As a result, almost 200 Ouch posters have now become members of a message board set up by a former Ouch user SunshineMeadows at https://forum4.aimoo.com/OuchToo
